When my friend Lauren was getting married, I decided to hold a bridal shower for her. She had dismissed many traditions from her wedding plans, so I really wanted her shower to be untraditional and unique. My first idea to have each guest create a pottery piece for her had to be abandoned when the pottery teacher proved unreliable and wouldn?t return my calls in order to finalize the plans. But, I came up with a better plan. I created a fairy tale story about Lauren. It started with the required ?Once upon a time? and ended with her marrying Jeff, the man of her dreams. I filled about 20 pages of the storybook and printed it on my laser printer on watercolour paper I bought from Michaels. At the shower, I read the story aloud and then shuffled the pages and had each guest pick a page. I told them that they now had to paint an illustration for that page. Each guest was supplied with pieces of art paper, an inexpensive box of watercolour paints, a pencil, eraser, brushes and water?.oh, and a glass of wine, of course. Guests found a comfortable spot to work, on the patio, at the kitchen table, at the dining room table, wherever! We had so much fun checking out each other?s pages and we were all amazed at how much talent emerged. We were incredibly lucky that Lauren?s mother was an art teacher. She drew and painted a beautiful fairy castle for the front page. The pages were hole-punched and the book was bound with an organza ribbon. Each page was signed by its artist, creating a lovely keepsake for Lauren. It was a really fun day!
Our beautiful line of Maribou was a huge hit at the London Bridal Expo. It was hard to resist stroking the soft maribou. Our line includes muffs to keep you and your attendants warm, gorgeous hair accessories with Maribou and feathers, ring bearer’s cushions, fashion pins, flower girl baskets, pomanders and even garters! I and my attendants had Maribou muffs and hair accessories for my own wedding so I have a “soft” spot for Maribou!
We have added a gorgeous line of garters to our already fabulous collection. Our line of Mokuba garters have been hand made by us using the world famous Mokuba ribbons and laces from Japan. Mokuba items are regularly used in the collections of many famous designers. The world’s press devotes more than 1,000 pages of credits and articles each year covering Mokuba’s contributions to fashion. This international recognition of excellence has spread the corporate identity worldwide, making MOKUBA an internationally renowned brand name. We love these garters and think you will too!
